Laboratory (45 m²) for small-scale testing

Food processing laboratory (45 m²)

In our laboratory, we can test processes on a small-scale before moving on to our pilot plant. This also enables us to perform analyses during processing, closely monitoring the process.

Small-scale testing for reliable process development

In our fully equipped laboratory, we test and validate processes on a small scale before moving to pilot-plant trials. This controlled environment allows us to explore raw material behavior, define key process parameters, and assess feasibility with minimal risk and cost. By understanding how ingredients respond to variables such as pH, temperature, solubility, and enzyme activity, we build a solid foundation for predictable scale-up.

In-process analysis for continuous control

Throughout development and production, our lab supports real-time monitoring and analysis. By measuring composition, functionality, and process performance at every critical step, we can adjust parameters immediately and maintain optimal efficiency. This analytical capability ensures consistent quality, higher yields, and smoother transitions to pilot-scale and full-scale processing.

Bodec laboratory

  • Process development

  • Validating existing processes

  • On-site analyses during pilot-scale tests

A food processing laboratory is used to test, analyse and improve food ingredients, product concepts and process conditions at small scale. At Bodec, the laboratory supports process development for food ingredients and bioprocess-based products. It helps customers understand product behaviour, quality and feasibility before moving to pilot-scale testing or production.
Bodec’s laboratory supports practical analysis for food ingredient and process development. Depending on the project, this may include testing dry matter, moisture content, pH, viscosity, stability, separation behaviour, concentration, drying performance and other process-related parameters. The focus is on analyses that help customers understand product behaviour, improve the process and prepare for pilot testing or production.
Yes. Bodec can test and analyze food ingredients before moving towards pilot or industrial production. This helps evaluate product quality, process behaviour, functionality and practical feasibility at an early stage. Based on the results, process conditions can be adjusted before larger volumes are produced.
A laboratory helps identify how a product behaves under different process conditions. For example, we can test how changes in temperature, pH, mixing, separation, concentration or drying affect product quality and process performance. These insights help select the right processing route, optimize key process settings and reduce technical risk before testing at pilot scale or moving towards production.
Yes. Bodec can help analyze and improve existing food ingredients, bioprocesses or production processes. We can review the current product and process, identify improvement opportunities and test alternative process conditions. This may help improve yield, product quality, stability, efficiency or scalability. Depending on the project, this work can be done in Bodec’s laboratory, pilot plant or directly on-site at the customer’s facility.
Laboratory results provide useful insight, but they do not automatically translate one-to-one to pilot or industrial scale. At larger scale, factors such as mixing, heat transfer, viscosity, residence time, separation efficiency, drying behaviour, cleaning and equipment capacity become more important. Bodec uses laboratory results as a starting point for pilot testing, where the process can be validated under more realistic production conditions before moving towards industrial production.
Yes. Customers can use Bodec’s food processing laboratory without having their own R&D facility. This allows startups, scale-ups and established food companies to test ingredients, evaluate process conditions and prepare for pilot testing without investing in their own lab infrastructure. When the product and process are ready, testing can be continued in Bodec’s pilot plant and, where suitable, scaled towards first production batches.

Food-grade laboratory for small-scale process development

Our food-grade laboratory provides a controlled environment to test, develop, and optimize processes before scaling up to our pilot plant. By working at bench scale, we quickly assess ingredient behavior, evaluate extraction or separation methods, and determine key process parameters. This early-stage validation reduces risk, shortens development timelines, and ensures that every step is backed by real data.

Analytical capabilities for in-process monitoring and quality control

With comprehensive analytical tools on-site, we continuously monitor product quality, composition, and functionality throughout development. Real-time analysis allows us to adjust conditions immediately; whether it’s pH, temperature, enzyme dosage, solubility, or viscosity; ensuring stable, predictable output. This combination of hands-on testing and data-driven control supports reliable scale-up and delivers consistent, high-quality food ingredients.
