This may include looking at the composition of the side stream, such as proteins, fibres, fats, carbohydrates, minerals, moisture content or functional properties. But the focus is not solely on what is present in the side stream. It is also important to understand whether the desired component can be recovered, stabilised, processed and produced at a realistic scale.
