Pilot plant (450 m2)

Food pilot plant for process testing and scale-up

Our 450 m² food-grade pilot plant provides the space and flexibility to test, compare, and optimize full processing lines under realistic conditions. This is where we bridge the gap between laboratory work and industrial production: exploring different process routes and evaluating different technologies and results.

A 450 m² pilot environment for scalable process development

Our 450 m² food-grade pilot plant is designed to bridge the gap between laboratory validation and industrial production. In this flexible space, we test and refine full processing lines—from raw material handling and extraction to separation, concentration, and drying—under realistic, controlled conditions.

Testing, comparing and optimising complete process routes

With a wide range of pilot-scale equipment, we can evaluate multiple technologies side by side, compare performance, and adjust process parameters in real time. This allows us to experiment, iterate and “tinker” our way toward the most efficient and scalable solution for your ingredient. Whether you need to validate a single step or an entire process, the pilot plant provides reliable data and hands-on insights essential for scale-up.

Bodec's pilot plant

  • Bridge the gap between lab and production

  • Test and tinker your process

  • Valuable samples for application tests

A food pilot plant is a testing environment where food processes can be developed and validated at a larger scale than the lab, but before moving to full industrial production.
A food pilot plant is a testing environment where food processes can be developed and validated at a larger scale than the lab, but before moving to full industrial production.
In a food processing pilot plant, customers can test process steps such as mixing, heating, hydrolysis, extraction, separation, filtration, concentration, evaporation, drying and stabilization. The pilot plant can also be used to evaluate product quality, yield, processing time, equipment settings, cleaning requirements and scalability. At Bodec, pilot testing is focused on developing a practical route towards larger-scale production.
Yes. Bodec can run full process trials in its pilot plant, depending on the product, process and required equipment. This means we can test multiple process steps in one integrated route, from raw material or intermediate product to a final ingredient or semi-finished product. If specific equipment is not available in-house, we can often work with our machine building partners to rent or test additional technology.
Different technologies can be compared by testing them under controlled and practical conditions. At Bodec, we look at factors such as product quality, yield, processing time, energy use, equipment suitability, cleaning, scalability and cost drivers. This helps customers choose the most suitable technology or combination of technologies before investing in equipment or moving towards industrial production.
Pilot plant results give a strong indication of how a process may perform at industrial scale, but scale-up always requires careful evaluation. Bodec uses pilot testing to reduce technical risk and define the process conditions needed for a reliable and scalable production process.
Yes. Customers can use Bodec’s pilot plant without investing in their own facility. This allows startups, scale-ups and established food companies to test, validate and improve their process before making major capital investments.
